2nd Invitational Athletics Meet

La Martiniere College organized the 2nd Invitational Athletics Meet on 31st October. A total of ten teams from different schools  participated in the event. The event was organized by a team of boys known as OXARO. The boys efficiently organized the  event under the able supervision of Mr. Allen Morrison and Mrs. Sheeba Siddique. The event was held at the Polo Ground. The Meet comprised of the following main  events-

  1. 100 meter flat race.
  2. 200 meters flat race.
  3. 400 meters flat race.

4. 5000 meters cycle race.

  1. 4×100 meters relay.

The event was graced by the presence of  Mr. Syed Ali, a former hockey player and a participant in the Montreal Olympic Games. The event commenced with Adrin Aitkins, the College Atletics Captain along with the captains of other teams lighting the torch.

The events were keenly contested. Army Public School, Nehru Road was declared the Champions while La Martiniere College were declared the runners up.

Oath taking Ceremony

An Oath taking ceremony was organised at PoloGround to mark the Commencement of the Athletics season for the academic year 2015-16.

College Athletics Captain Adrin Aitkins led the College in the Ceremonial Oath. This was followed by lighting of the torch and the racing heats.
Martin House emerged as the overall winner in the Tug -o- War event. This was followed by the Tug -o- War between the Staff and pupils in which the pupil were the winners

Constantia 2015

CONSTANTIA -2015 was yet again a day full of excitement, enthusiasm and activities of all nature- technical, literary and cultural. The organizers, proudly called as LEO’s welcomed no less than 1035 students from 18 prestigious schools of the city.

The events began with the lighting of the inspirational lamp by our college principal, Mr C.A.McFarland. Events like POSTER MAKING not only showcased the artistic talent of the participants but also made them ponder on the seriousness of sparrow and vultures getting extinct. CARDBOARD SCULPTING drew attention towards the historical significance of the city we reside in. they crafted out the monuments with great creativity from cardboard material provided. Grave issues of  present world-“ Naari- Sammaan ki adhikari” were taken up in NUKKAD NATAK. An attempt to revive the pleasantness of kavya goshthi of yesteryears was made in events like SASWAR KAVYA PATH. It was heartwarming to hear young poets rendering their poems.

Technical minds at the same time were at work on the computers as they participated in events like JAVA JIBE, WEB GENESIS and CREATIVE SURPRISE.

The kitchen of La Martiniere witnessed a number of budding chefs preparing all by themselves meals starting form salad dressing to paneer curry in the event called NIBBLES.

Young journalists could be seen going around the campus preparing for the BREAKING NEWS of the day.

Business minds, on the other hand were busy raising the graph of their company stocks in an event called CORPORATE SIMULATION. The drama and script writing skils were showcased in the event called PANDORA’S BOX wherein, a mystery box with properties was provided to the participating teams that had to be woven into a script and a skit was to be dramatized on it. The skits were a great joy to watch as the interpretations of the props given varied from comedy to horror and even satirical.

The younger generation can be poetic too! The event TOKEN SCRIPT gave the youngsters space and reason to be poetic in a ballad format. Yet again, fusing the old with new emotions.  The culrtural events were towards the evening. It began with the BATTLE OF BANDS where the boys and girls at drums, synthesizer and guitar build the mood for the great music later in the evening. The dusk, dimmed halogen lights with coloured light effects and great music took not only the participants but also the audience to the floor to dance with the music that was a merge of Indian folk and Hip Hop showcasing the evolution of Bollywood since the seventees in PIROUETTE.

The day ended at a happy note with many new friendships and new bonds formed between the staff and students of various schools, with a promise to be back again recharged and refreshed with enthusiasm and zeal.

Under 15 Football Tournament 2015

Star Sports organized the Young Hero’s 7 A Side Inter School under 15 Football Tournament 2015
La Martiniere College participated with two teams viz. Team- A and Team B
Team B Qualified in the Knock-Out Round by winning three matches but could not make it to the finals, however, Team –A reached the finals and defeated DAV College by 3 goals.

Craig Johannes was adjudged the most promising player of the tournament will be attending a special football training programme in Spain in the year 2016.

Reserve Bank of India Quiz – 2015

The Reserve Bank of India Quiz was held on 13th October, 2015 at the UP Sangeet Natak Academy, Lucknow. Our College was represented by Ayush Nigam of 10- C and Samarth Srivastava of 11-C who qualified for the stage round and won the runners -up trophy.  The winners were given gift vouchers worth Rs. 1000/- to buy books from Universal Booksellers Hazratganj.

Holiday Notice for Junior School

Classes in the Junior School Campus (Nursery to 4) shall remain closed on Tuesday, 13 October, 2015 on account of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.

Students of the Middle and Senior School shall attend the SPIC MACAY Programmes as per the instructions provided. The programmes shall conclude by the normal closing time for College.

The Staff of the Junior School Campus is invited to watch the programmes in Spence Hall. Resident Scholars of the Junior School are invited to watch the programme.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Lecture

APJ KALAM Collage

To perpetuate the memory of former president, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, La Martiniere College instituted an annual ‘A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Lecture’ on his Birth Anniversary. An Academic Session was organized in the Spence Hall in which-
The panelists:-
1. Mr. Srijan Pal Singh- OSD to Dr. Abdul Kalam and co- author of 3 books with him, talked about his experience with APJ Kalam and how his sensitivity and gratitude towards people made him an extraordinary person.
2. Prof. Abhishek Mishra – Minister of State to Hon’ble Chief Minister (Science and Technology). – He talked about six aspects that he learnt from Dr. Kalam and how can we imbibe these to change our lives to be a better individual.
3. Mrs. Madhvi Kukreja – A women’s rights activist and founder, Sanat Kada NGO. – highlighted the importance of each individual in the society and how mothers are undermined in that aspect.
4. Mr. Akash Banerjee- Alumnus and Media personality –talked about the striving for excellence in life by having a focused vision and executing it as well.
